To highlight progress in adapting to new technologies and energy transition, Huawei Digital Power held the Huawei Green Peru Summita local event that brought together industry leaders and local experts to learn more about the challenges, experiences and outcomes of sustainable development.
The aim of the meeting was to testify how close Latin America, and Peru in particular, is getting closer to carbon neutrality, both in industrial and residential spaces. The event was attended by the main authorities involved, such as the Deputy Minister of Electricity, José Martín Dávila; Vice Minister of Communications, Omar Álvarez, and the key strategic partners of the international company, such as the President of Trina ISBU, SuiLinhui, and the key national and international strategic partners related to the renewable energy sector.
The event was led by the President of Huawei Digital Power Latam, Henry Wang, who argued that the strategy is to integrate high-performance digital and electronic technologies to promote an energy revolution for a better and greener future. On the other hand, he emphasized that the company has devoted all its efforts over the past 30 years to building a fully connected and intelligent world, free of carbon emissions.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Electricity Minister José Martín Dávila said, “MINEM is promoting the energy transition in the country, through renewable energy generation, transportation electrification, digitization 4.0, green hydrogen and new technologies with decarbonization. The reform of the electricity sector involves different levels and actors, and will have an impact on better conditions for the population and even a tariff reduction in favor of the economy of Peruvian households. This Huawei event is very important to continue working towards carbon neutrality.”
Likewise, as an institutional entity, it highlights the participation of Paloma Sarria, Executive Director of the Peruvian Association of Renewable Energies, who announced the main achievements of COP27 related to the environment; and presented the initiative to a white paper titled “Perspective on the Renewable Energy Industry and Battery Energy Storage Systems”, which delves deeper into the field of photovoltaics.
It also had the participation of representatives of local companies such as Paul Duclos and Tomas Luy from Amazonas Energia Solar, who with their presentation “Microgrids, energy solution for isolated locations”, they revealed the ongoing projects and future projects that will bring benefits to society in practically all areas. “With a continuous supply 24 hours a day, the economic development of the localities is facilitated and the quality of life improves,” said Tomas Luy in his speech.
On the side of strategic partners, Alexander Monestel, CEO of DCC, during his presentation “The route for the decarbonization of the data center industry”, mentioned the main actions for the “Data Center Net-Zero”, they are based on: Clean energy, Governance , Holistic Approach, Water Efficiency, Metrics and KPIs, Circular Economy, Energy Efficiency.
Finally, the President of Trina ISBU, Mr. Sui Linhui, expressed his interest in the development of solar energy projects in Peru, explaining Trina’s track record as a global leader in PV module manufacturer and also in its large-scale PV project development unit .
