LG Electronics (LG) has announced the production of its engine Inverter direct drive (DD) has passed 100 million units. The technology of these motors has been a decisive factor in LG’s optimal performance and recognition in the home appliance field.
The DD Inverter motor is directly connected to the washing drum, a solution that ensures that washing machines are more sustainable, significantly reducing energy consumption and noise during operation.
From 1998 to the end of 2022, the company produced an average of more than 12,000 DD Inverter motors per day and over four generations they have continuously improved the technology and performance capabilities. LG holds more than 240 patents on motor-related technology, both in Korea and internationally.
In 2019, the company applied artificial intelligence (AI) to the engine to further improve efficiency and effectiveness. The team uses deep learning to detect the weight of each load and the types of fabrics being washed. Then, thanks to technology, it selects the optimal combination of drum movements six movement, able to take care of the user’s clothes and minimize damage to fabrics, both in washing machines and dryers.
LG’s inverter motor technology, namely AI DD, became the first in the home appliance industry to be verified through deep learning artificial intelligence; recognition obtained from the company Underwriters Laboratories (UL).
“The number of DD inverter motors produced demonstrates the excellence of the technology LG has developed for its premium washing solutions”said Kim Yang-sun, head of the Component Solutions Business Unit of LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Company. “We will continue to create highly efficient building blocks that improve the performance and reliability of our products while reducing CO2 emissions during use.”
