Ladies and gentlemen, the biggest Japanese event dedicated to the world of video games is back in style. After a two-year forced hiatus that has turned the fair into a virtual one and largely deflated the novelties, the Tokyo Game Show 2022 has marked an aúpa edition. The Association of Computer Entertainment Providers (CESA, for its acronym in English, event organizer) said that “nothing gaming“, and given the quantity and quality of the games showcased this year, no one else can say.
With the doors closed, we can take inventory and see all the news and great announcements it has left us. The full list would be huge, so we wanted to focus on a block of 10 novelties with proposals with a distinct Japanese aftertaste. As the canons command.

What is the Tokyo Game Show
First of all and for those who don’t know it: the Tokyo Game Show, also called TGS, is one of the largest video game fairs in Asia and the largest in Japan. Despite its name, it takes place in the city of Chiba, and more specifically at the Makuhari Messe convention center.
Traditionally, the event is dominated by novelties developed by studios from that country, who do not play in vain at home, but their biggest hits have long been for the international market as well. In addition, and given the need to reach a greater number of players, it is very common for major releases to have a computer versionsomething that was not common in the beginning.
As with other major industry events, the Tokyo Game Show takes place more or less simultaneously or in sync with events from some of the participating companies, which later showcase the novelties that will be independently unveiled at the fair. This is the case, for example, with Rise of the Roninwhich was first unveiled during Sony’s State of Play.
When will the Tokyo Game Show be held?
Normally this fair is held in September, although there was initially a TGS in the spring and one in the fall. This year’s Tokyo Game Show 2022 was developed between September 15 and 18. The first two days were exclusively for companies (including specialist press) and the rest for the general public, who have come closer to having a first contact with what will be some of the most famous releases of what is left in 2022 and early next year.
Due to its location in the calendar, the TGS is the last major video game event to take place each year.
